IPMA-HR Virginia Chapter Regional Workshop

Strengthening your Supervisory Skills in Employment Law

This workshop will provide information in the following key areas:

  • “Employment Law 101.” This session is an up-to-the-minute guide on the latest federal law developments and provides the groundwork for all other training sessions.
  • "Violence in the Workplace." According to the Dept. of Justice, approximately two million people are attacked or threatened in the workplace every year. Learn to recognize common characteristics of a perpetrator and discuss what policies employers can put into place to create a safer workplace.
  • “Harassment, Implicit Bias, and Discrimination.” Daily news reports continue to demonstrate harassment, implicit bias, and discrimination are unfortunately occurring in the workplace. This session covers what constitutes harassment and bias—including protected EEO classifications—and discusses how employers should respond to claims of harassment and how it should be documented.
  • Other trending and relevant employment law topics will be covered.
