Learning Objectives (What HR Professionals will take away from the presentation):

This session will provide HR Professionals with a basic understanding of the leave-related requirements under the FMLA, ADA, and Worker’s Compensation.  This session will also provide participants with the tools needed to navigate leave-related requests and gather the information needed in order to make decisions consistent with these areas of the law. Participants will leave the session prepared to identify and manage the issues and related risk that often arises from such requests.

Our presenters:

Ms. Brubaker has extensive experience representing employers in several areas of law, including civil and commercial litigation, administrative proceedings, and arbitration. She regularly advises employers on workplace harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. She also advises employers on regulatory compliance (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, etc.), day-to-day workforce management issues, employee handbooks and policies, and transactional matters, including severance, noncompetition and employment agreements.

Mr. Sharp has successfully tried cases throughout the Shenandoah Valley, including estate, employment, and business litigation. He has litigated cases with complex issues involving the ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Worker's Compensation, sexual harassment, and discrimination. In addition to litigation, Michael offers insight and practical advice to employers in navigating employment law issues.
