Sweet Briar College

Sweet Briar College seeks an experienced human resource professional to provide guidance and leadership in directing, planning and managing the college's human resources department.

Responsibilities include management of employee relations, oversight of employee recruitment and selection functions, policy development and interpretation; design and management of compensation activities, and providing guidance and direction regarding employee benefit programs. This position serves as an advisor and coach to supervisory staff, and works collaboratively with departments to address staffing and performance development needs.

Applicants should possess a solid familiarity with human resource related laws; benefit plans and compliance issues, demonstrated leadership abilities, and strong organizational skills.   A Master's degree in a related field and at least 5 years of human resources experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, administration and others, both verbally and in writing is necessary.   Solid computer skills and experience using an integrated database are also required.   HR certification and experience in higher education are preferred.
